Dr. Derek Jimenez joined Renalus Center for Kidney Care in 2007, bringing specialized expertise in dialysis and renal transplantation. As an active member of the regional medical community, he has served on the Medical Executive Committees at Sacred Heart Hospital Emerald Coast and North Okaloosa Medical Center. He has previously contributed to medical education as a Clinical Instructor for the Family Medicine Residency program at Eglin Air Force Base.
Dr. Jimenez began his academic journey at Florida International University in Miami, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies. He then pursued his Doctorate of Medicine at Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra in the Dominican Republic before completing his residency in Internal Medicine and his fellowship in Nephrology at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. During his training, he was recognized for his excellence with the *Superior Achievement Award in Internal Medicine* and was appointed Chief Fellow in Nephrology.
Board-certified in Nephrology, Dr. Jimenez has been an active member of the American Society of Nephrology, the Renal Physicians Association, the American College of Physicians, and the Hispanic American Medical Association. He is licensed to practice in Florida and Alabama.
