Bio
Dr. Edward L. Friedland’s journey in medicine began in New York, where he graduated with Phi Beta Kappa honors from Columbia College in New York City before earning his medical degree from The University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. He then moved to Miami, where he completed his internal medicine residency and nephrology fellowship at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center.
Following his training, Dr. Friedland founded Carolina Nephrology Associates, P.A. in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he practiced for 12 years before returning to Florida. In 1998, he co-founded Pensacola Nephrology, P.A., the predecessor of the Renalus Center for Kidney Care, bringing his extensive experience and passion for nephrology to the Gulf Coast community.
Dr. Friedland specializes in the treatment of complex and resistant hypertension, fluid and electrolyte disorders, and the care of critically ill patients in the hospital setting. In addition to his patient care responsibilities, he is dedicated to educating future physicians. He serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Florida State University College of Medicine and works with the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, training resident physicians within the Sacred Heart Health System. At Baptist Hospital, he has held multiple medical staff leadership positions, including Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine.
Board-certified in Internal Medicine, Nephrology, and Critical Care Medicine, Dr. Friedland is an active member of the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Nephrology, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Friedland is licensed to practice in Florida, Alabama, and North Carolina.
Dr. Friedland resides in Pensacola with his wife and their seven children. His dedication to both his profession and his family reflects his deep commitment to making a meaningful impact in both his community and the field of nephrology.
